Three variables affect the estimate more than any others. The first is the number of days spent in the parks: each day on safari costs more than a day at the beach, because it includes entrance fees (the park fees for the northern circuit are the single highest item in the package), fuel, a guide, and overnight stays in protected areas. That’s why the 13-day tour with 4 days of safari costs less than the 12-day tour with 7. The second is the resort category in Zanzibar and the meal plan chosen, ranging from half-board to soft all-inclusive.
